It has been another busy week for Longford Women's Link.

We were delighted to have attended the launch of an exciting report - 'The Power of Community Education: Supporting lone parents to fulfil their potential in education, employment, and society'. - which LWL participated in. The Centre for Effective Services (CES) conducted the research. The research was funded by the Community Foundation Ireland and the Beachaire Fund, and was launched by Minister Norma Foley - TD at the National Concert Hall, Dublin, Ireland.

We also had the opportunity meet Minister Joe O'Brien TD for Dublin Fingal to discuss Community Services Programmes (CSP).

Testimonials

Great service that you guys provide. Impressive!!!

Laura DoyleLongford Town

At the beginning, the Centre dealt mainly with local women and provided many worthwhile services for those in need. In more recent times, your efforts for the well being of all women of every nationality, culture or ethnic background have been well recognised. It is to the credit of the Longford Women’s Link that you developed an attitude of inclusiveness at a time when such attitudes were less widespread.

Michael KilleenFormer Longford County Manager

Thanks to this centre I got best support for me and for my child. The organisation opened my eyes to many things I did not know and I got all the support I need. Women’s link finally gave me the courage to do what I should have done years ago.I received a lot of information which made me more confident in the decisions I make. Women’s link made me realise that I wasn’t the wrong one in the situation, I found myself in and gave me the strength to walk away and make a healthier and safe life for myself and my children.’

AnonymousFeedback from ‘Safe Ireland’ National Network Domestic Violence Outcome Evaluation 2010

‘Since LWL was founded you have been a dynamic campaigner for the rights of women in Co Longford. In particular, l applaud your encouragement of women of every ethnic, religious and cultural background to work towards building a fully-integrated multi-cultural community for modern Longford.’

President Mary McAleese
