Early Years Practitioners needed

Catkins on the Move are recruiting full time and part time early years practitioners. Flexible employment opportunities.

As a Catkins on the Move Early Years Practitioner, you will be required to fill temporary staffing needs as they arise within Catkins on the Move, be it on mobile crèche or childcare relief work as booked with Catkins on the Move. You will report directly through the line management structure of the service to which you are assigned.

Hours
Hours are flexible. You will work a minimum of 20 hours per week up to 39 hours per week.

Purpose of work
To providing flexible childcare support to Catkins on the Move, for mobile crèche or childcare relief work. To promote a happy, healthy, stimulating, and safe environment within the childcare services.

Key areas of work

Working as relief staff in Tusla Registered Early Years Services and adhering to their policies and procedures.
Working in temporary early years services.
Ensuring the Childcare Act 1991 (Early Years Services) Regulations 2016 are adhered to following the Quality and Regulatory framework (QRF)
Organise and participate in developmentally appropriate games and activities based on the emergent interests of the child.
Keeping appropriate early years records up-to-date.
Appropriate communication with children using verbal and non-verbal methods.
Developing good working relationships with clients and co-workers.
Adhere to Longford Women’s Link Child Safeguarding Statement and the Child Safeguarding Statements from any services engaged in.
Attendance at future training sessions as required.
Any other duties as assigned.

Job Description

As an early years educator, you will report directly to the lead educator of the room to which you are assigned.

Job Purpose: To act as a positive role model and be responsible for the delivery and implementation of a high-quality play-based curriculum under the guidance of the national quality frameworks Aistear and Síolta both indoors and outdoors. To, guide, observe, stimulate, and supervise children in a safe and caring environment as part of the early years team in the room.

Core Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To follow the policies and procedure of the service at all times.
  • To conduct observation and learning stories for all children.
  • To organise materials and resources to ensure that they reflect the children’s emerging interests and abilities.
  • To implement a play-based curriculum that encourages independence and fosters the growth of self-esteem within all children.
  • To support children’s emotional, social and cognitive development.
  • To assist in providing healthy meal/ snack times which meet the growing needs of children and reflects variation in culture or dietary needs.
  • To develop and support parental involvement strategies that enhance children’s learning experiences.
  • To ensure that the welfare of children is paramount in accordance with Children First; National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children.

Promote the services in the local community and wider area to assist and support the quality and sustainability of the service.

Qualification and Experience:

A minimum of QQI Level 5 in Early Years Education

One-year post-paid qualification experience of working in an early year.

Strong understanding and experience in Early Childhood Education
